Tapping Method for Students

This past week, several teachers had the opportunity to meet with Dr. Ernie Mendes who specializes in the art and science of emotional intelligence. During his session, one particular thing that he discussed with our teachers was the tapping method.

What is Tapping?

“It’s the practice of tapping particular points on your body with your fingertips while talking through something that might be causing you to feel anxious. This, according to The Tapping Solution Foundation, helps you to work through your emotions, restoring balance in your body and mind.”

Tapping in Schools

Teaching students to tap when they are starting to feel overwhelmed or any discomfort, can help learners “self-manage” their emotions. This can be taught to learners as young as four years old.

The purpose of this blog post is to give our educators yet another strategy that can help our learners, especially during times of high stress. Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) like tapping can be a way to help all of us reduce the negatives impacts of stress and coping with highly emotional events.
